Reporting To:Â Head of Technical Training & Development and the Steer Training Academy.
Main Purpose of Role
The Technical Training & Development Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, developing and delivering technical training, Continuous Professional Development (CPD), and apprenticeship programmes across the business. The role supports operational excellence by ensuring colleagues have the knowledge, skills and qualifications required to meet company standards, manufacturer requirements and industry accreditation, including BS10125:2022. Working closely with operational teams, training providers and external partners, you will help identify training needs, develop learning materials, coordinate training activities, and maintain accurate training records using the company’s learning management systems.
As this is a national role, regular travel throughout the UK is required.
Main Tasks
Training & Development
· Coordinate and actively support the Steer Training Academy’s CPD and Apprenticeship programmes.
· Develop, deliver and continuously improve technical training focused on Vehicle Damage Assessment (VDA) and related operational competencies.
· Produce engaging learning materials for classroom, workshop and online delivery using the Learning Management System (LMS) and IMI platforms.
· Support colleagues in achieving and maintaining technical competence, qualifications and professional development.
· Deliver training across Steer, Gemini, Komoo and Commercial Repair Centres throughout the UK.
Apprenticeship Programme Support
· Support apprentice recruitment through promotional activities and engagement events.
· Assist with apprentice inductions, progress reviews, development planning and assessment activities.
· Liaise with training providers, managers and mentors to ensure apprentices receive appropriate support throughout their programme.
· Monitor apprentice progress through to successful completion of qualifications.
Training Coordination & Compliance
· Coordinate training plans to ensure qualifications, accreditations and CPD requirements are completed within required timescales.
· Maintain accurate training records, reports and documentation.
· Support compliance with BS10125:2022 requirements by ensuring employee competence records remain current.
· Monitor and review training effectiveness, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
Operational Support
· Work closely with operational managers to identify technical training requirements.
· Carry out training needs analysis and recommend suitable development programmes.
· Support the introduction of new repair methods, equipment and technical processes through effective training.
· Develop strong relationships with external suppliers, manufacturers and industry partners.
Administration & Budget Support
· Maintain training records using SharePoint, JDK, LMS platforms and other company systems.
· Assist with the preparation and monitoring of annual technical training budgets.
· Raise purchase orders and liaise with suppliers and the accounts team where required.
· Monitor training costs and help identify cost-effective training solutions.
Quality & Professional Standards
· Maintain your own professional competence, qualifications and CPD.
· Support the continued development of the IMI Approved Centre status.
· Act as a professional ambassador for the business both internally and externally.
· Promote a positive learning culture throughout the organisation.
Health, Safety & Compliance
· Comply fully with all company health and safety policies and procedures.
· Follow all safeguarding requirements when working with apprentices and learners.
· Ensure all training activities are delivered safely and professionally.
· Wear appropriate company uniform when representing the business.
Other Duties
Due to the size and complexity of the establishment, you will undertake any other reasonable tasks or duties that are deemed to be within your capability, as directed by a senior manager of the group with whom you have a reporting relationship.
Person Specification
Essential
· In-date IMI VDA Accreditation (NVQ3 VDA or L4 VDA End Point Assessment are not acceptable).
· Strong automotive industry knowledge with significant Vehicle Damage Assessment (VDA) experience.
· Experience delivering technical training, coaching or mentoring within the automotive sector.
· Experience supporting apprentices or adult learners.
· Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills.
· Ability to build strong working relationships at all levels.
· Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Full UK driving licence.
· Willingness to travel extensively across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
Desirable
· Assessor qualification or willingness to achieve one.
· Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS).
· Knowledge of BS10125:2022 standards and competence requirements.
· Experience working with apprenticeship programmes and external training providers.
